When living in a renovation project it can quickly become quite overwhelming. I have learnt a few tips and tricks through our last house’s renovations and this home’s renovations to make life and marriage a little easier.
Communicate. Over communicate if needed.
Plan, plan some more, and plan again.
Have one area of the house that you can retreat to and relax in.
Research the crap out of anything and everything!
Celebrate the Little Things.
The main trick? Celebrate the little things. I learnt a long time ago that if I dwelt on the next project instead of taking a moment to appreciate the little thing I had just accomplished I would live a very meaningless, anxiety filled life.
Yes, I am a creative dreamer so I have about 100 different ideas everyday when it comes to interior design. However, the moment I don’t appreciate what I have accomplished is the moment I don’t give credit to the One whom made me creative. It’s the moment I don’t celebrate the ones who have also helped me accomplish whatever task it might be.
If you follow my little feed on Instagram, you may have saw my story. I did a simple story about how we finally moved our fridge to a proper spot in the kitchen… It involved ripping out cabinets, painting, refinishing a wall… Our kitchen is nowhere near done. However, I was so stoked to have increased our workable square footage, have actual water and ice cubes, and have spot to eat dinner together as a family. I took time to celebrate the little things even when my kitchen is still not finished. And I also praised my husband for his hard work! The little things matter.
Hope you found this little post encouraging! Go and celebrate the little victories today.
