A fun post on this year’s color trends.
A few weeks back I wrote post on trend predictions of 2018. Find the link [HERE]. But I have been doing a lot of thinking about the “experts” color choices… and it may come as a surprise to you when I say what the biggest color trends will be this year.
It’s a little bit of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
If you remember watching Friends, you know that there are several CURRENT color trends that are starkly similar to the beloved TV sitcom. Specifically, the eclectic style of Monica and Rachel’s apartment. Literally, all the predictions of industry leaders can be found in the bachelorettes’ apartment.
Let’s talk about Pantone’s Color of the year… ULTRA VIOLET.
Remember the color of the living area? An eggplant violet color… similar to Ultra Violet.
Remember that cabinet color in Monica’s kitchen? Yep, similar to SW’s Oceanside!
If you open up any painting catalogue or browse a design magazine you’ll be greeted with pale pinks found on cabinets, furniture, trim work, and accent walls. And I am not just talking little girls’ nursery walls. I’m talking living rooms and kitchens. I don’t think we will see too much of this in the midwest but I’m sure we will see it incorporated some how.
Monica’s bedroom? Pink.
Last year’s Pantone Color of the Year was a bright, lime-ish color green. This year you’ll be seeing a spin off in more of an emerald green color. I am loving Behr’s Equilibrium (below).
Remember that space between the kitchen and bathroom in the famous apartment? Yep, a shade of, Emerald Green!
Well folks, that’s my fun realization of this year’s color trends. It’s interesting how trends make a reappearance after a certain amount of years and what we thought went out of style comes back in full force.
